We usually don’t brag about being stressed. Many of us dream of living lives that are as “stress-free” as possible. But also, Life would be boring without challenges and surprises. We have heard often that stress is unhealthy and that we should try to manage it as much as possible. But getting worked up isn’t always a bad thing. After all, the body’s fight-or-flight response is meant to be protective, not harmful. Besides, a little stress can make you more resilient, increase your immunity in a short time, help boost your brain power, and may motivate you to succeed. It’s only when stress becomes chronic, or feel like you’re no longer in control of a situation that it negatively affects your health and well-being.
Does medication help in relieving stress?
When the stress becomes long-term chronic stress, it can start to negatively impact you physically and psychologically. Because stress hormones are released during the event or even when we’re just anticipating the event. Unfortunately, there is no one specific class of medicines that is used to treat stress. Instead, physicians may prescribe a range of medications to lessen or manage specific stress-related signs and symptoms that may include; anxiety, depression, irritability, headache, and insomnia among others. For instance, sedatives, antidepressants, and beta-blockers have all been used to help people cope with stress. Besides, Strategies like a healthy diet, plenty of exercise and sleep, and mental health aids are proven to relieve stress.
What’s the Difference between stress and anxiety?
Stress is the body’s natural response to dangerous situations in which a person feels threatened or is under pressure. People under stress can experience both mental and physical symptoms, such as irritability, anger, fatigue, muscle pain, digestive troubles, and difficulty sleeping. Anxiety, on the other hand, is defined by persistent, excessive worries that don’t go away even in the absence of a stressor.
